In a letter from David Ward Prangnell to WSP dated 2nd March 2000:
"The 1776 will of Richard, yeoman of Godshill, is likely that of William's grandson in that it refers to the two properties that Richard may have expected to inherit through William's will of 1716. Richard's will refers to his daughters Elizabeth, who seems to have married twice (Cooper and Tharle) and Mary (Burrough) and to his grandson William Cooper."

It is to be noted that no mention is made of Richard's wife, who has probably died. Also, considering the form of his will with a highly religious statement, it is strange there is no record of the baptism of either of his daughters, Elizabeth or Mary.

6 Feb 1793 in the same and agreed to give her instead a rent charge of 100 pounds a year for

Thomas Burroughs, who was mentioned in Richard's Will above, after the death of Mary (?) has married again. This assumption is based on whom is the referent of "his" in the words "his wife" above.
